The best way to understand CortexaNote is to try it for yourself. This walkthrough will help you become familiar and confident with the recording and note-generation process before your first patient session.
For help navigating these settings, check out our tutorial on the CortexaNote mobile app and web platform.
Before you start
Before your trial session:
Make sure your device has a stable internet connection.
Confirm that your microphone is connected and working.
Have a template you want to use for the session.
If you are using the CortexaNote Recorder, make sure it is charged, paired, and positioned correctly before starting.
Starting your session
Create a new session profile for your session.
Before recording, make sure to:
Upload any relevant context for the session.
Ask everyone participating for consent to be recorded.
Select the microphone you want to use for the session.
Select Transcribe to begin recording.
During your session
CortexaNote records the session while you focus on the conversation.
For the best results:
Keep the microphone or recorder close enough to capture the conversation clearly.
Avoid covering the microphone.
Verbalize everything you find during your examination.
Mention any details you want included in the note.
Use the context box to add information that was not said out loud during the conversation. You can jot down any context before, during, or after your session.
Ending your session
When you finish up your session, select End to stop recording.
If you are using the CortexaNote Recorder, keep the recorder near your mobile device until the session has finished syncing.
After the recording is saved, CortexaNote will process the audio and prepare your transcript.
Reviewing and adjusting your notes
Looking over your transcript
Before generating notes, review the transcript for accuracy.
You do not need to fix every small wording issue, but you should check that key clinical details were captured correctly.
If important information is missing from the transcript, add it as context before generating notes.
Generating and editing your notes
Pick the template you want to generate notes with, then select Generate.
CortexaNote will use the transcript, selected template, personalization settings, and any added context to generate your notes.
Review your notes before using them in your records.
You can edit the note directly to correct wording, add missing details, or remove anything that should not be included. You are responsible for reviewing, correcting, and approving all documentation before it is added to the medical record or used for care.
If the generated notes still need adjustment:
Change the level of detail
Switch templates
Using your completed notes
Once the note is ready, copy the full note or individual sections into your electronic health records or documentation systems, or send them directly to your patients.
If your EHR is supported by CortexaNote, you may also be able to send notes through the browser extension. If your EHR is not currently supported, you can still copy and paste the generated notes into your EHR text fields.
Tips for your trial session
During your first trial session, we recommend testing:
